John F. Kennedy International Airport (airport code JFK) is the United States' 6th busiest airport and was originally built in 1948 and renamed for the slain American president in December 1963. Operated by the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, JFK Airport is located in the borough of Queens only 15 miles from midtown Manhattan. JFK has eight operating terminals with 125 gates serving over 70 airlines. After a $1.4 billion redevelopment in 2001, Terminal 4 serves international passengers with the airport's only 24-hour Customs and Border Protection and has the airport's only internal AirTrain station to take passengers to the Long Island Rail Road and New York City subway making for easy access to major corporations and tourist destinations. New York entertainment includes television, music and nine major sports teams.
