(EWR) Newark Liberty International Airport Overview

Newark Liberty International Airport (airport code EWR) opened in 1928 making it the nation's oldest airfield and it contains the country's first commercial airline terminal. Gateway to the 2nd largest metropolitan area in the world (only 14 miles from Manhattan), Newark Liberty serves a crucial role in the New York-New Jersey-Pennsylvania metropolitan area. AirTrain Newark connects passengers to the Newark Liberty train station where they can connect to NJ Transit or Amtrak railways for travel throughout New Jersey or to New York, Philadelphia and beyond. Part of the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, Newark Liberty has three terminals, A, B, and C. Currently being renovated, Terminal B serves international arrivals. Newark Liberty hosts the world's longest commercial passenger flight, Newark to Singapore (Singapore Airlines), which runs 18 hours and 50 minutes, and the airport served over 33 million passengers in 2010.
