mike G 12-20-2010 11:24 AM Not the worst in the world, could be alot better. Soyo in the north is far more worst than Luanda. I forgot my yellow fever certificate and bought one at the airport for 25 us dollars without the injection. The lounge does not have alot in it. Shops?
dutchstar 08-22-2010 10:56 PM I have just been to Luanda (Aug 2010) and the airport looks much better now! It was extensively refurbished and for a small airport it now has acceptable standards...
Delta1965 06-4-2009 2:43 PM This is by far the worst airport I have been through in my life. I have travelled to many places in the world, and also many others in africa, and you would be pushed to find any worse.
snfc21 09-15-2007 5:23 PM What can I say about 4 de Fevereiro Airport? I travel alot , more than 10 flights per year. I also travel to Angola , Luanda. This airport (4 de fevereiro) is the first airport where I have received a corporal punishment (i got beaten) for having an electronic ticket (they did not had internet in the airport and they were unable to check it, not to mention that they did not even wanted to call the local British Airways office to confirm that my return ticket is indeed valid. I was just punched and hit, myself and my wife as well, and thrown in the first airplane leaving Angola, which was a flight to Namibia , where off course I did not had a visa for. NEVER GO THERE! SME (Servicio de Migracao & Estrangeiros) will beat the living hell out of you if you present them an electronic ticket. It happened to me, it can happen to you as well. PS: for notquitekarpov : i've been in RDC (congo), Namibia, South Africa, Zaire, Mozambique, Nigeria, Benin and Zimbabwe as well, not only Angola. I used e-tickets in 7 of these countries (not only once) and never had a problem. Only in Angola it happened. Does this tell you anything? Not to mention that I asked repeatedly to be allowed to buy plane tickets from the airport and we were denied this right.
notquitekarpov 09-12-2007 10:01 AM You never go there unlesss you have to. Always have a visa before arrival, always have a Yellow Fever jab and certificate before you arrive (unless you want to catch AIDS from there forcing their injection on you) and never carry too much cash. Above all NEVER leave with any Angolan cash - it is illegal and they will jump on you for any transgression (probably hoping you will attempt to bribe them - don't do that either!). As for the other user who tried to travel with an e-ticket, not a lot of sympathy - this is Africa remember!
cgtur 05-3-2007 7:12 PM Hopefully things will improve now that there is so much growth in the area. The biggest problem for foreigners is the imigration procedures, three to four hours to process a visa in the arrival area,a real horror story !!.
