phllvslc 09-7-2014 10:25 PM Arrived at LAX from Tucson, with a connection on to London Heathrow. The whole idea of getting a bus between the terminals is ridiculous for such a large airport. The staff seem unaware of even the basics as to who stops where, the signage is poor, and all the buses, taxis and shuttles circling around the terminals with reckless abandon is just asking for an accident. The Tom Bradley Terminal is nice to look at, but the shops are exclusive and pricey. A basic turkey on wheat bread sandwich is $7.50. Shoddy transport and pricey shopping don't make for a pleasant layover.
Tej886 08-14-2014 2:12 PM AMAZING LAX!
frankietikibutt 04-26-2014 7:31 PM LAX may be crowded and always have bad lines, but because of the destinations and the Tom Bradley International Terminal, the airport does not seem as bad as other people think.
kiwitraveller74 01-19-2014 5:37 AM We left from Brisbane to Auckland, both lovely first class airports. Excitedly arriving at LAX we couldn't believe exiting the plane walking along threadbare carpet, miserable looking staff who couldn't find the energy to crack a small, makeshift directional signs. We advised the custom officer of some lollies we had in our bag for the kids, he just shrugged his shoulders. What a first impression, is the airport going broke??
Sparqx 10-4-2013 9:56 PM Easily the worst airport in the world.
yelloviper 04-23-2013 6:32 PM It is truly an airport I dread.
HOMIE41 01-28-2013 11:41 PM I AGREE WITH MOST OF WHAT EVERYBODY SAYS THE WORST AIRPORT EVERY IF I DIDNT NEED TO FLY OUT OF THAT HOLE I WOULDNT BUT WHAT CAN YOU NEVER BUY ANYTHING THERE IF YOU DONT HAVE TO NASTY NASTY NASTY
tatun65 12-13-2012 12:33 AM Absolutely one of the WORST airports in the world in every possible area...
fliestoomuch 10-5-2012 3:33 AM I have flown out of airports in developing countries that are a hundred times better than LAX. I've been flying in and out of LAX since 1984 and it has continued to deteriorate. Tom Bradley is an embarrassment to America. There are no signs in the domestic terminal telling people how to get over to International and no one that works there seems to give a s^&t or no anything. TB has been under construction since the 90's. TSA in TB were rude and slooooow. I will try to avoid LAX at almost all costs.
mrsportsfan17lax@aim.com 08-3-2012 3:37 PM Horrible Airport
ljensen 03-6-2012 8:39 PM This has got to be the worst airport in the World. Tom Bradley... Is a JOKE. Nothing at this airport works. Nothing. I live in Southern California and LAX is my most obvious/convenient choice when flying internationally which I do 8-10 times a year. But I am seriously starting to consider alternatives. Such as fly to another domestic airport before going overseas. The problem is arrival. A MESS!!!!! Count on spending 1.5 to 2 hours from touch down until you are actually released through immigration/customs area. Do NOT ask family or friends to pick you up on time. They will end up thinking you didn't make it and leave again before you're out.
BenHargy 02-5-2012 10:30 AM I arrived at this airport from Auckland. I've always thought is was odd the way people go on about their "favorite' or "least favorite" airport... it's just an airport for gods sake, shouldn't matter what it looks like... HOWEVER... LAX is an absolute SHITHOLE!!....... After getting off the plane, I had to find my way through a maze of dilapitated corridors, broken elevators, and missing signs.... some signs actually pointed in the OPPOSITE direction from where they were supposed to... I've been to airports from Tbilisi to Chengdu, but LAX is simply a horrible, dingy, dim, dark, cave.
pstarr9 01-27-2012 1:01 AM This is my hometown airport and I wish I could recommend it, but it's dirty, crowded and ugly. LA is a very diverse city, and the staff at LAX should positively reflect the City, but the staff appears unhappy and are rude and generally uninformed, although occassionally individuals are very helpful. If you can, use Burbank airport, it's small, friendly and clean.
testa63 11-26-2011 11:06 AM looking at this airport makes it very evident : the U.S. have become a third-world country.
Eddychanter 02-18-2011 11:43 AM possibly the worst airport in the western world. Need to knock it down and start again. Nothing positive to say about it. Will avoid if at all possible in the future.
lemn 02-11-2011 11:21 PM lax is a horrible airport. i do everything i can to avoid flying there, either long beach or santa ana are way superior options. the layout is really bad, especially the way you need to drive to drop off / pick up people. the security is pretty bad too.
John_H 12-18-2010 1:45 PM I use LAX 20 times a year every year - I don't see the problem - perhaps it's not as glossy as Denver, but for ease of use it beats Dallas hands down. It works well for such a large airport, and it's not as weather prone as Dallas or Chicago. Only problems are the American Eagle remote terminal and the Remote Gates (if you haven't had to use them you're lucky)
TightheadNev 11-14-2010 8:26 PM One of the worst experiences at an airport ever
reyes3 10-21-2010 8:09 PM es muy grande y no es facil encontrar donde tu gate esta. orale
SEAFREAK16 09-28-2010 11:57 PM For a busy airport like LAX, not bad. However...Security lanes take a lifetime to get through!! Why do TSA agents stop the belt and the movement of people when nothing is wrong?! I flew US Airways in/out of Terminal 1...security took ages and I saw about 15 people running to their gates to find out they missed their flight. Seriously, LAX emloyees need to realize travelers have jobs and families too and this stopping security lines for no reason is bullshit! And I've NEVER been to an airport before that has fricken traffic lights in the airport drive! Stop lights in LAX's drive create way too much stop-and-go!
JesusW 08-18-2010 11:56 PM I had a connection in a different terminal so I choose a 3h gap between my flights in order to pass migration and to have a relaxed walk to the other terminal. United ATMishmachines are funky, mixed my data with another passenger's. Security lines were terribly long but courteous. Interesting to see a Best Buy vending machine inside, not a bad idea for a last minute camera buying, or an I-pod, it can save a vacation.
srose1210 07-23-2010 5:25 PM I happen to like LAX because I've only ever had good experiences here. It's an older airport and its age is showing, but poor Cali is so broke I don't think it's on the priority list for a makeover. It's a big airport, so of course it's a lot of walking and people all about. It's an airport that requires patience as you will be part of the few who speak English natively--THAT is very challenging. But overall, folks seem to be friendly. This is one of the only airports where the shuttle bus driver actually helped me with my luggage and smiled at me. Delays are frequent, but much better than my home airport of EWR. Until I have a bad experience, I can say that this is one of the better run large airports.
javeca 12-15-2009 10:12 PM LAX is one of those airports I dread, when I can I fly out of Ontario or Burbank, and I live in Bakersfield.
larry87120 11-13-2009 10:41 PM So out of date and just a really poor travel experience.
hgc2360 11-8-2009 3:30 AM Long lines everywhere you turn the place is dirty TSA and Airport police are very rude to everyone one of the worst airport in the world
Mel7 06-30-2009 10:27 PM I agree. PLEASE hire people who are QUALIFIED and speak ENGLISH instead of this "do-gooder" racial nonsense. Americans are sick and tired of having to push "1" for ENGLISH.
zemax5168 06-18-2009 10:48 PM worse airport ever, I dont think you can find anything worse than this airport in the major city.
sodyssey 03-28-2009 10:43 PM Absolutely dread going through LAX. Worst airport experience so far and I travel plenty. Its disorganised, dirty and always in a state of havoc.
mkitchen363 12-29-2008 9:38 AM Poor layout. No signage. No assitance other than religous zealots outside the doors.
cadetairman20022002 10-8-2008 7:19 AM When going through customs i was shocked at how rude border patrol was to people. WORST ever. Fly out of Ontario that is by far the best airport in socal. I also use onatrio for international flights (to mexico) I will do anything to avoid seeing border patrol at LAX.
wwwilkie 08-1-2008 3:07 PM I use this airport for connections only so can't speak for pre-security areas. In the Delta terminals the shopping and dining options are few. Dining prices are the worst(highest) of any airport I have ever been in the domestic US.
hk1708 05-11-2008 3:01 PM World Worst Airport
prism 05-10-2008 3:59 AM As this is the gateway to the U.S. from Asia, this airport is an embarrassment, especially compared to the Asian airports. The staff is not helpful. LAX is hard to avoid if you're traveling to Asia but try if you can.
kabq 04-11-2008 10:04 PM this is a nice airport but the staff are MEAN and it is hard to navigate through and the walk are like 5 miles, otherwise i give it a 4/5
ddgraham 03-31-2008 11:57 PM As a frequent international and domestic traveler, I have rarely seen a more poorly designed, maintained and operated airport -- with the possible exception of London Heathrow, which is truly a deprivation tank. There is NOTHING to recommend LAX in any category. Do they actually TRY to make it as inconvenient and inhospitable as possible for the flying public?
1Alexander 02-24-2008 10:55 AM folks, I never had to wait longer in security lines than 5mins, only problem seem to be holidays when you need to queue in a line to check-in. Most of the times though service was great. Overall a good experience.
Aninda 01-24-2008 7:09 AM Best Airport Ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I donn't know why anybody else didn't like it as much.
SWFloridaAl 12-31-2007 4:51 AM LAX needs a facelift but not bad for a main US gateway. Employees are rude. Welcome to LA LA Land
ajeary 12-17-2007 7:54 AM Probably the worst airport in the world
tja 12-5-2007 5:52 AM The queues in international arrivals are unbelievably bad. Its hard to assess baggage handling when it takes you an hour to get from your plane to baggage collection, and thats on a good day. The security lines, particularly in Tom Bradley are always far too long. You need to allow a long time for transfers in and out.
skateboy007 12-4-2007 4:57 AM I consider this to be one of the most outdated and poorly managed international airports in the western world. Asian hub airports put LAX to shame.
clare_nicolaisen@yahoo.co.uk 11-29-2007 10:50 AM America prides itself in customer service however I'm sorry to say this appears to have bypassed one of their busiest tourist gateways. Transferring from international flights to domestic flights is truely dreadful. To find a helpful of member of airport staff is near on impossible. I have flown into LAX on a number of occassions, twice having to make connecting flights to San Diego. One occassion was with my mother - customer care and information - dreadful. For such an important airport I'm shocked that it is so bad. If at all possible I avoid flying into LAX.
anshjain 11-23-2007 7:37 AM Terribe, unorganised airport.
Typhoonwis 11-3-2007 5:24 AM A 1950's facility operating in 2007.
ssinai 09-2-2007 6:48 AM As an American, I find it embarrassing that LAX is often the first impression of the U.S. that foreigners get. Crowded and dirty. If flying international, try going through San Francisco instead.
xbr9 08-29-2007 3:24 AM It needs a major overhaul, maybe even tear down and start over.
Squak 08-17-2007 4:58 PM Have yet to see anything worse. Rude staff, don't care attitude. Disgusting place.
deia 06-16-2007 1:49 AM Really nasty staff at the security checkpoints. I know they have unpleasant jobs at times, but I have only ever gotten attitude here. Paltry selection of restaurants. This airport is rotten. Rotten.
russianwarrior 06-8-2007 5:29 PM Ageing,dull,claustrophobic.
jochembakker 06-7-2007 5:57 AM Horrible airport, avoid it like the plague if you can. No proper luggage screening facilities, so you're hauling your stuff from line to line (and there are plenty of those!). Rude staff, poor or just missing signage. Checkin areas way too small, so plenty of people standing in line outside already.
Iain Tanner 05-22-2007 7:39 PM Based on my experience of the international terminal with renovation work taking place.
ockron 05-6-2007 3:17 AM Grumpy people & nasty staff will ensure that I avoid it at all cost
Ivy 04-29-2007 8:04 PM I really like this airport. The only problem is that it should have more flights to Costa Rica!!! Ir only has 2: 1 regular of LACSA and 1 seasonal of American Airlines.
elaine@elaineandrews.com 04-10-2007 8:27 PM This is one of my least favorite airports. After travelling for 6 months having to return to Canada through the US and particularly through this airport totally sucked!
mike8057d 03-23-2007 9:00 AM Immigrant for arrival for international passengers is a big big problem. Long queue and waiting time to get your passport to be stamped is at least 1.5 hours. The organisation of the immigration queue is in a big mess, don't expect this from a developed country. I would say that it is worse than a lot of developing Asian airports. Not a good feeling after a long long flight.
atctim747 02-14-2007 5:49 PM The good thing about LAX is that there are tons of flights to destinations around the World. You can pick from many different airlines. The bad part is that the terminals at the airport are old and most are in need of remodling. Security lines at LAX are notoriously long even with the airport and the TSA working hard to reduce them.
