maartenn 12-4-2013 6:51 PM Another one of the bad london airports. No free WiFi, overpriced trains, station is confusing, late gate calls, overcrowded, long distances to gates. Bad seating. North terminal worse than south terminal. LHR is better except for flight delays.
Harry01052013 03-15-2013 1:50 AM One of the Biggest Airports In London
Flatliners 12-15-2011 2:06 PM Car parking charges exceptionally high. Layout of car parks is so badly designed even a staff member involved in running the place was unable to tell me where the pay machine was located while standing in the blue car park. Before entry you need to figure out which colour park will allow the easiest access to those pay machines otherwise the delay in taking lifts down one floor to access the machine and then up another floor in order to get to the correct level to cross over from red to blue means the greedy owners earn extra cash. Can't stand dropping off passengers at this airport. Food substandard.
jabdoc 09-6-2011 7:26 PM appalling service and very difficult to get any help to troubleshoot problems. No free wifi and internet desks were too time limited. I will avoid if at all possible
Brigata 02-17-2011 6:40 PM Big airport with regular facilities...
Bluesteve 12-26-2010 10:05 PM My only two flights from/to this place were dreadful experiences from every respect. Second time my flight from Milan was delayed until just after midnight, and working after midnight appeared to be an issue with staff, baggage handlers, etc. After 30 mins we were emptied out on to the tarmac to pick our own way across the apron and find a door into the terminal, while the baggage handlers were doing their best to smash every piece of luggage into pieces. My last visit was to "wave off" my parents who were emigrating. Iasked for the viewing area but was told the only place was on top of the car park - but not to go up too early as I would probably get thrown off by security ! Needless to say I've told everyone I know to avoid this place like the plague !!!!!
timothyskinner 12-18-2010 12:38 PM Hell on Earth; book flights into/out of Heathrow !
henwood 10-6-2010 5:58 AM Worst airport on the planet, wonder why airlines us it for a hub, it is one hell hole where all passengers are treated as criminals, To make matters worse even internet is a paid for service (Please make it compulsary for UK airport administrators to visit other airports especially in Asia to see how an airport and its security SHOULD be organised and made passenger friendly)
quinlet 06-25-2010 11:34 AM I recently got from the airport entrance on to the plane in 10 minutes. I can't imagine that happening at any other big airport.
qjh 06-16-2010 3:56 PM Getting better ubnder it's new owners
lawrence3178 02-24-2010 2:27 PM considering it is a UK airport, its not that bad!!!!!! there is pleanty to do while waiting for flights and in general customers are catered for reasonably well.... However, the staff really need to go on some customer services training days - well i think weeks would actually be better! hopefully now that BAA have lost ownership of it, there may well be an improvement to this. the building itself is getting dated now, however it is still functional. on the whole, the airport is a lot cleaner than other UK airports such as LHR but it still requires work. if you have the choice between the two london airports, (LHR / LGW) then this one should win!
dozzzzy 01-26-2010 8:05 PM Any one who wants to travel through this airport needs to see a psychiatrist, it is a dire and depressing place
oneeleven111 01-9-2010 9:23 PM Gatwick run by the BAA was awful! Lets hope the new owners can get it back to the jewel of UK airports it once was..
absinthe_boy 12-19-2009 11:07 PM Preferable to Heathrow because Gatwick is smaller and not quite so busy...or at least it seems that way. Check in can take an age, but I've only once waited a long time in the security line. A shame there is such a difference between terminals, but neither is shabby. Things seem to work well, baggage reclaim is among the fastest I have come across (30+ airports visited). I'm amazed how a jumbo full of luggage can be on the belt in the time it takes me to wave my passport at the officials. Look and feel of the airport is decidedly average but functional.
rallison 09-17-2009 5:45 AM A typical UK user unfriendly airport that has experienced unplanned growth to make profit without due consideration for the passenger. The airport is now too large taking up to 30 mins to get to a departure gate from the departure hall. Security and Check-in is unable to cope with typical passenger traffice which means it is now manditory to arrive 3 hours before flight departure making a home to european destination travel time over 8 hours.

kostkar 01-23-2009 4:36 PM Overall excellent airport but .. well the check in areas might do with some improvement. .
nickcopeland 11-26-2008 9:54 PM South Terminal - Average North Terminal - Probably the best airport experience in London.
kristjanerix 11-2-2008 6:40 PM Thats one of the most best airport that I've ever been to. It's clean and beautiful. transportation to London is good despite the fact that it's so far away from London. There was a problem of delays but that's becouse of only ONE RUNWAY but still not bad. And I happend to be there on the 15.08.08 when the fire alarm was put on and everybody had to evacuate, but they handled that situation very well. good airport with some little mistakes P.S. sorry about bad english ;)
Rahfat 02-15-2008 9:13 PM Avoid it if you can
dalmore 02-5-2008 9:06 PM One runway, arrogant security prople, obnoxias over kill as regards selective screening. No logic is being used. A real pain is the fanny. I am going to do my best to never connect through the UK when traveling to the continent.
GAZ747A380PILOT 01-11-2008 12:05 PM Brilliant airport, especially the south terminal!
jerseyfinn 07-28-2007 5:13 PM LGW is a plain-looking airport, but very efficient in operations. Though it needs a physical make-over, one can usually have a good transit experience here ( certainly better than LHR IMO ). Immigration lines for non-EU folks are TERRIBLE however -- not enough officers. Despite this, I'd take LGW over any of the other London regional airports.
kschendel 07-25-2007 5:35 PM Probably the best of the London majors, which isn't saying much. No way should this airport work as well as it does, with its ONE RUNWAY (!). The terminals manage to be strangely depressing and are best exited quickly. The Gatwick Express to Victoria is a plus, and LGW isn't too hard to get to from the west or southwest.
apu200 07-18-2007 4:12 PM BEST AIRPORT IN LONDON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BRNF 04-13-2007 1:39 PM Just as bad as Heathrow but miles further from London. Rude staff, huge queues, nowhere to sit, vile food outlets (just fast food, no real food), endless delays. Avoid if at all possible. Also, don't buy anything in the shops - generally cheaper abroad.
JackG 04-7-2007 6:41 PM Too bad it's so far away from center of London. Ten times better than Heathrow.
grahamje 01-23-2007 10:09 PM North Terminal much more pleasant to use than South Terminal. Probably the best airport overall in London's mediocre offering, apart from LCY, which caters to a different market.
NGumbs 12-25-2006 10:30 PM London Gatwick Airport is An Overall Excellent Airport!!!
nsavage 12-3-2006 5:56 AM Nobody would spend a minute in Gatwick if they had a viable alternative. The staff's attitude ranges from disinterested to hostile. Nasty place.
