Changes!

It has been almost a month since we launched the consumer site, and the response has been fantastic. Not ones to rest on our laurels, we took a good hard look at a couple of our applications and felt they needed a lot of improvements. At the same time, we listened to suggestions and feedback coming from all of you. By the way, your feedback is extremely appreciated. Anyway, we have made some changes and added some new features.

The biggest change to an existing application happened to the flight status application. The user interface is new and we feel a lot better. Not only is it a lot more readable, but the important information stands out. In addition, the amount of information we have is unparalleled in the industry, and we feel this is better illustrated now. Finally, it is also very simple to now to sign up for notifications from this page.

It is sometimes said that a picture is worth a thousand words. You will notice some graphs appearing now on some of our pages. This is something we wanted to get in the last release but time did not allow for it. It was a high priority for this release and we think you will like what you see. We still have other graphs in mind and you should see them rolling out in future releases. Again, if you have certain graphs that you think are important let us know.

If you are a Google Module or Windows Live Gadget user, be sure to check out our new .All In One Widget. in the downloads sections. Flight Status, Flight Rating, Flight Notification, and Current Airport Delays all rolled in to one!

Speaking of Google users, if you use the Google Toolbar, check out our new Google Toolbar Button, also in the Downloads section. Current Airport Delays on your toolbar! In addition you have a powerful search mechanism at your disposal. Simply type in a flight or route in the Google Toolbar Search box, hit our FlightStats button, and you will be redirected to the appropriate page. There is a wealth of commands available and we hope this is a useful button.

There have been numerous sites that have been so kind to include our widgets on their pages. Thank you very much. We have expanded your options now to include a very simple html form, and also spelled out different ways to link to us. You can see all of this in the Downloads section of the site.

We also have two new applications on our site: Airports of the World, and Airlines of the World. The Airports of the World application categorizes airports by regions, then countries, and in the case of the United States, by states. The Airlines of the World application categorizes airlines alphabetically.

There was some other work done for search engine placement, and some GUI consistency items, but for the most part that is it for this release. Please let us know what you like and do not like.

Thank you very much for using FlightStats!
