It has been a long time since our last spotlight article. Has it really been 6 months? Time sure does fly.

These are exciting times for FlightStats.com! We launched the current version of FlightStats.com a little over a year ago. In May of last year we served up approximately 120,000 pages. We are now serving more than twice that each day and expect to serve over 7 million page views this month! There are now 165,000 registered users of FlightStats.com with traffic coming from almost every continent of the world (for some reason we are not very popular in Antarctica).

We have not rolled out a lot of new features in the last 6 months. Instead we have been focused on improving infrastructure and increasing data coverage. To be honest, we have also been spending a lot of energy on learning. We have been learning about what takes to manage a large site, learning about our community and just plain learning about our business.

We have also been working on a lot of engagements with other businesses. We have been working with some of the largest names in travel, and are very excited about the opportunities ahead of us. It has been a learning process in this area as well. One thing that has become clear to us is that it can be difficult for a potential customer to get a grasp on the various ways our content can be syndicated on other websites. Today, we our launching the start of our Syndication Center. We hope that this helps illustrate the opportunities available, as well as speeding up the delivery process. In addition, our free Weblets can now be downloaded on-line. Even better for our customers, we decided to drop the advertisement that we were previously displaying in the free versions of our Weblets.

In case you missed it, one thing that did roll out a couple months ago was flight status updates via Google SMS. If you have a mobile phone and want to get the latest status of a flight you can simply SMS Google for it, and our information will be displayed. See Google SMS for more details.

We are very excited about the rest of this year! There are so many things we want to add to the site, and we also see incredible growth opportunity.
