FlightStats August Airline/Airport On-time Performance Report
An impressive 22 European airlines we tracked delivered > 90% of their flights to the gate on time in August, up from 9 in July.
09/04/2012 @ 15:09 (Updated 09/06/2012 @ 09:43) North American airlines, on average, delivered 74.87% of their flights to the arrival gate within 15 minutes of schedule in August, up 2 percentage points from July's 72.12%. Though Tropical Storm Isaac caused major flight disruptions, cancellations in August were noticeably down with 14,564 cancelled flights compared to 15,795 in July 2012.

A mix of major and regional European airlines turned in strong performances in August including NAYSA, Cimber, Finnair and Austrian leading the way. An impressive 22 European airlines we tracked delivered > 90% of their flights to the gate on time in August, up from 9 in July. The average OTP for the group was 85.61% in August, up from 81.42% in July.
The top ten on-time arrival performers among European carriers were: 1. ZN NAYSA - 95.60% 2. QI Cimber - 95.51% 3. KF Blue1 - 95.43% 4. BT airBaltic - 94.23% 5. AY Finnair - 93.88% 6. 4U Germanwings - 93.53% 7. OK Czech Airlines - 93.17% 8. OS Austrian Airlines - 92.82% 9. EW Eurowings - 92.82% 10. VO Tyrolean Airways - 92.67%
J-Air, IndiGo, Hokkaido and Tiger led all Asian airlines in August with each averaging >90% on-time arrival performance . The average on-time performance rating among the 38 Asian airlines we analyzed in August was 66.69%, nearly identical to July's 66.96%.
Tokyo's Haneda continues to outperform the rest of the world's busiest airports while posting a 91.46% on-time departure performance in August. Two other Asian airports, 3 North American and 4 European airports rounded out the top 10 in August. The average on-time departure performance among the top 30 airports in August was 70.80%, up from 67.30% in July 2012.

SLC took the top spot in August with an 88.85% on-time departure performance. The average on-time departure performance for the group in August was 77.24%, up from July's 74.82%. Here is a summary of the on-time departure performance for the 10 best performing large North American airports:
