What is your position at FlightStats?
Trip Data Services Account Manager
What made you interested in what you do?
I am an airline geek. I have always had a fascination with aviation and commercial aviation in particular. I have always wanted to do something in that realm, in one way or another.
How long have you been working at FlightStats?
How has FlightStats evolved since you started?
In the past couple of years, the products have evolved substantially and at a rapid pace, especially the Trips products. They have really matured, going from a very early structure and look and feel to a more polished, refined look and feel. Our Trips products were originally more of an alerting platform, but they have grown into a platform that enables travel agents and agencies to better manage disruptions–and even that has evolved. They have definitely grown up from an early concept to a more sophisticated suite of products.
What do you like about working at FlightStats?
It’s a family. Everyone is close-knit. There are no rigid silos that consist of people you can’t talk to or allow to be involved in your product. I get up in the morning and I want to come to work because I like the people I work with. There is no drama.
What’s the best part of working in the aviation industry?
No two days are the same. Every day has its own unique set of obstacles and challenges. There is always discovery going on and because of that, it gives you the opportunity to continue to learn, grow and change your thought processes. You find that what works for today isn’t the same as what worked for yesterday.
What are your hopes for our industry?
My hopes for the company are that we continue to develop and grow. One of the benefits of getting acquired by FlightGlobal is that there are great opportunities to solve more complex problems. Overall, I hope for success in what we do.
What do you do in your free time?
I am an explorer by nature so I am always looking for something new to experience, whether it’s places to see or foods to try or activities to do.
Any other fun facts you want to share?
I am a published cookbook author. The book is called family secrets. It’s a collection of recipes my mother and I worked on together because we had no written records of our family’s recipes.
